DUTA Office Formation Complete; Executive Gets Into the Act

The new DUTA Executive under President Nandita Narain elected its Office Bearers and decided on Co-options to complete the Formation for the term 2013-15 today. The elections were completed in a smooth manner. The following people were elected as the new Office Bearers: Sandeep (ARSD College) as Vice President, Harish Khanna (Shyam Lal Evening College) as Secretary, Anita Ghosh (Aditi Mahavidyalaya) as Jt. Secretary and Bhupinder Chaudhary (Maharaja Agrasen College) as Treasurer. Besides these, five more teacher-activists, viz. Angad Tiwari (Aurobindo Evening College), Vivek Mohan (Delhi College of Arts and Commerce), Ramesh Kumar (Shivaji College), Pramod C. Sharma (Kirori Mal College) and Anand Kumar (College of Vocational Studies) were co-opted into the DUTA Executive to complete its full strength.

Keeping in mind the anxiety of thousands of ad hoc teachers over the recent decisions taken by the University Authorities which will adversely affect the appointments process, the DUTA Executive has decided to meet on Emergency basis on Thursday, 3rd October at 3 pm.The Points System introduced to screen candidates before the Interview and the illogical cap on the number of candidates to be called for interviews per post, as decided and passed by the EC, will exclude most deserving aspirants. On the other hand, the way in which the University has decided to implement the Reservations Roster goes against the Government Directives and will hit the interests of all sections hard. The DUTA wants to ensure an impartial, transparent and entirely legal process of appointments to begin at the earliest as 4000 plus teaching posts are lying vacant in the colleges and departments across Delhi University.
