DUTA condemns police violence on DUSU protest against FYUP and calls on students and teachers to join protest rally and cricket match on 14 February

The DUTA strongly condemns the violence unleashed by the police against the DUSU and other student groups in the last few days, at the behest of the increasingly totalitarian University administration backed by the Central Government, to gag the voice of the University community protesting against the disastrous four year undergraduate programme and maladministration by University authorities. We demand strict action against the officials responsible for ordering a lathi charge on peacefully demonstrating students and immediate release of students detained under false charges.

The DUTA offers full solidarity and support to the DUSU in the campaign against FYUP, better hostel and mess facilities, restoration of revaluation, confidentiality, supplementary exams, special chance and other student friendly provisions. In the light of the violence unleashed on students, the DUTA renews its call to all teachers and students to boycott Antardhwani which is being misused by the University authorities for false propaganda in praise of FYUP.

The DUTA also welcomes the DUSU call to boycott Antardhwani and calls upon students and teachers to participate in large numbers in a protest rally tomorrow on the first day of Antardhwani, starting at 11 am at the Arts Faculty Gate. This will be followed by a protest cricket match in front of the VC’s Office to demand that that the University stadia that were renovated during the CWG be thrown open for the use of students and teachers.
