DUTA Slams University for its inaction on restructuring FYUP courses for 2013 Batch

It is shocking that after acceding to the order of the UGC to rollback FYUP completely for the batch seeking  admission this year on 27th June, the University authorities have taken no steps to restructure the courses of second and third year for the FYUP batch of 2013. In its order dated 20th June the UGC had asked the University to make appropriate arrangements to ensure a smooth transition of FYUP students to a three year undergraduate Honours degree. In letters written subsequently, the UGC had also asked for appropriate restructuring to be done for the students of B.Tech and B.M.S.
More than a week has passed since the rollback was announced by the VC, but the University has still not initiated the process of restructuring for the students of the 2013 batch of FYUP, who  are in a state of uncertainty about what their courses will be. Colleges are in a quandary about how to make time-tables and allocate teaching work in time for the start of the new session. The University should have called an urgent meeting of the Academic Council and Committees of Courses to finalise the restructuring urgently. Failure to do so is nothing but criminal negligence and dereliction of duty on the part of the VC and his team.

Twelve elected members of the Academic Council have requisitioned an emergent meeting of the Academic Council to discuss the restructuring of courses for the batch of 2013.
An Emergent DUTA Executive meeting was held today at 3 pm to  frame  suggestions to the Academic Council to restructure courses for the students admitted to FYUP in 2013. Members expressed their shock and dismay at the complete silence and inaction by the DU administration in this regard. The DUTA will coordinate with all student groups to hold a Dharna at the Arts Faculty Gate on Tuesday, 8 July at 2 pm to press for an immediate meeting of the Academic Council to resolve the issue.
