DUTA Executive calls for Dharna on Saturday
Delhi University Teachers Association, in an emergent meeting of its Executive held on July 17, 2014, expressed shock and anger at the utter callousness of the DU authorities, especially the Vice-Chancellor, to the twin issues of restructuring of FYUP courses as well as the joining of the ad-hoc teachers on July 21, 2014, the first day of the coming academic session. The Executive unanimously decided to stage a dharna from 2-4 pm in the University premises on Saturday, July 19, 2014 on the following issues:
- To ensure the joining of all the ad-hoc teachers on July 21, 2014 in colleges where they have worked till the last working day of the previous academic session.
- To immediately convene the meetings of the competent statutory bodies of the University, ie, the Faculties, the Academic Council and the Executive Council, to expedite the approval of the restructured courses.
- To demand that the recommendations of the Committees of Courses regarding restructured courses be honoured.
- To restore the provisions of tutorials for DC-II/ Concurrent papers and also to introduce optional papers in DC-I/ Main discipline courses to ensure academic quality.
- To ensure summer salary for all ad-hoc teachers who have worked till the last working day of the previous academic session.
The DUTA takes serious note of this cavalier attitude and criminal dereliction of duty by the Vice-Chancellor in precipitating a crisis and mayhem in the University by his prolonged inaction and delay on the issue of restructuring of FYUP courses into the 3 year format. It is obvious that the VC and his officials are still smarting on the scrapping of FYUP and hence they want to create a chaos in the University. In the light of all the above violations, the DUTA reiterates its long-standing demand that the Vice-Chancellor must be sacked immediately to restore normalcy in the University.
