Suspension of G.K. Arora illegally revoked by the Vice Chancellor

The DUTA takes a serious note of the grossly illegal manner in which the Vice Chancellor has revoked the suspension of Dr. G. K. Arora, bypassing the Governing Body of the College. DUTA will fight tooth and nail against this atrocity along with DUCKU and DUSU, as it has done earlier in 2013 after Mrs. Pavitra Bhardwaj immolated herself in front of the Old Secretariat after a long and fruitless struggle for justice.

The DUTA along with DUCKU is holding a candle light march tomorrow at 5pm starting at the Arts Faculty. The DUTA has also called an emergency meeting of the Executive tomorrow at 2 pm to chalk out a further plan of action.

BRAC PRESS RELEASE, 25 July 2014

1. Teachers and Karamcharis of B R Ambedkar College along with office bearers, DUTA and DUCKU and other representatives unanimously condemn the action taken by Prof. A.K. Prasad, Chairman, Governing Body.

2. We take serious note of the manner in which the Chairman, has on the grave matter of Ms. Pavitra Bhardwaj case, without placing the matter before the Governing Body, has proceeded to recommend to the Vice Chancellor that the suspension of Dr. G. K. Arora be revoked. This only imposes the malafide intention of the Chairperson, who had on earlier occasions called meeting of governing Body to consider B. L. Garg Committee Report on the matter without circulating agenda papers to members of the Governing Body. These meetings of the Governing Body (6th June 2014 and 23rd July 2014) were cancelled as the teacher members refused to attend the meetings without proper notice and agenda papers.

3. We also note that Prof. A. K. Prasad in his capacity as Chairperson, B. R. Ambedkar College choose not to take action on the complaints filed by 23 women faculty members against Dr. G. K. Arora about hidden CCTV Cameras and CDs containing objectionable material.

4. We also condemn the Vice-Chancellor for considering the recommendations of the Chairperson which do not have any approval of the Governing Body.

Signed by 55 Teachers & Karamcharis including DUTA President, Both Elected Members of Executive Council, Academic Council Members, Office Bearers of College Teachers Association and karamchari union.
