Dear Colleagues,
The DUTA Executive, in its meeting held on 13 March, discussed the implications of the 5 March 2018 letter sent by the UGC to the universities to implement Department/subject-wise reservation instead of taking the university/ college as a unit under the 200 point roster, following a court ruling. It was unanimously decided to demand that the Government file a review petition before the SC and keep the 5th March letter in abeyance so that the present round of appointments on the advertised posts could continue. Accordingly, the DUTA has been highlighting this issue in all its subsequent action programmes and has also approached all political parties and leaders to garner support for the demand.
The DUTA Executive had also authorized the office-bearers to chalk out further actions to press for the withdrawal of the 5th March letter. In the light of the above, it has been decided that a Candle Light Vigil be held on 9th April, Monday, 5 pm at ITO, opposite the UGC. Please spread the word and help make the action programme a success.
The DUTA Executive will meet soon to take stock of the situation and to decide upon future course of action.
In solidarity,
Rajib Ray President, DUTA |
Vivek Chaudhary Secretary, DUTA |
