Dear Colleagues,

The the General Body in its meeting held on 23 May 2018 decided unanimously the following action programmes.

1.      Continue with the Evaluation Boycott till further review.

2.      “DU Bachao” protest at the UGC on Thursday, 24 May, 9:30 am -1:30 pm

3.      “Satyagraha: Mass Hunger Strike”, Wednesday, 30 May 2018, 10 am – 5 pm, Mandi House: DUTA will also write to teachers’ and students’ unions of other universities.

4.      To hold DUTA Extended Executive on Thursday, 31 May 2018, 2:30 pm.

5.      To hold DUTA GBM on Friday, 1 June 2018, 10 am.

The GBM resolution is attached. Please circulate it widely.

The DUTA held its protest at the UGC on 24 May 2018. Senior UGC Officials informed the DUTA President that the item on grant of autonomy to St Stephen’s College has been dropped. This last minute change in the agenda is because of the continuous teacher student movement against privatisation of public funded institutions through scheme of autonomous colleges and Graded autonomy. The DUTA demands assurance that DU will not be fragmented and privatised.

Friends, much is to be achieved. It is crucial that the 5 March UGC letter directing Universities to make fresh Department/subject-wise roster is withdrawn. It is an attack on reservation policy, has brought permanent appointment process in DU to a complete stand still and will cause mass displacement of ad-hoc teachers in July.

We also need to continue our struggle to force the University administration to take immediate concrete steps to resolve issues of appointments, promotions, counting of past services and pension.

Friends, the Evaluation Boycott has to be supported by mass participation in action programmes. We appeal to Staff Associations the following:

1) To take steps to  ensure participation in action programmes.

2) To give names of atleast 10 teachers  who will participate in  the Mass Hunger  strike on 30 May, Mandi House.

3) To hold Staff Association meetings and invite DUTA team.

4) To send feedback and suggestions for future course of action for the Extended DUTA Executive scheduled for 31 May 2018.

We request teachers to continue Evaluation Boycott. DUTA teams will continue to visit Evaluation Centers to ensure boycott.

We shall fight, we shall win.

Solidarity
