Dear Colleagues,

The immediate concern before the DUTA today is to ensure the extension of services of all serving ad-hoc teachers and the withdrawal of the 28 August and we are collectively committed for the same, we also request Staff Associations to write to their Principals reiterating the DUTA demand and keep us informed.

It is evident that the DU Vice-Chancellor, through his statement at the Convocation of giving jobs to over 3000 teachers on guest basis, is doing his best to push for contractualisation of teaching jobs. The 28 August letter has already had adverse impact on the teaching learning process in most institutions and must be fought.

As we are all aware, this is part of the larger policy attacks against universities, such as the Tripartite MoU, IoE, Graded Autonomy, replacement of grants with loans from HEFA and replacement of teachers by MOOCS.  With the Government gearing up to pass the NEP in the Winter Session, assaults against public funded universities, service and working conditions of teachers and trade unions are bound to increase. The continuous assault on ad-hoc teachers, denial of promotions to large sections of teachers, illegal recoveries on specious grounds, non-payment of dues and non-resolution of a host of issues are part of this larger assault.

In this context, it is important to highlight our opposition to the NEP while focusing on our demands for Absorption, promotion and pension before the Winter Session starts! The time has come for us to come out in large numbers and bring our students too against this massive assault.

The DUTA-FEDCUTA has given a call for a *Rally “Reject NEP, Save Education for All” on this Children’s Day, Thursday, 14 November 2019* and we write to you to request you to mobilise students, teachers and karmacharis of your college. Classes will remain suspended 10 am onwards. We shall assemble at Mandi House at 11 am. Staff Associations are requested to carry their banners.

An appeal has already been sent out to students, Karamcharis and leaders of political parties to join the Rally. Please circulate info, share posters and mobilise. A special request to Staff Associations to mobilise! Please hold meetings/public meetings for greater mobilisation. DUTA teams will join these meetings.
