Sub: Seeking your immediate intervention for release of salaries of Guest Teachers in Universities
Dear Shri Pokhriyal,
We write to you at a time when the entire country is grappling with the crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown announced by the Government in its effort to contain the spread.
We wish to bring to your notice that while the Delhi University has made arrangements to disburse salaries to teachers working on adhoc basis and employees working on contract basis, no such effort has been made to ensure payment of salaries to guest teachers working in the University Departments, colleges including NCWEB (Non Collegiate Women’s Education Board) and SOL (School of Open Learning).
In the light of the fact that all public and private sector offices have been asked to neither terminate nor reduce the wages of employees, especially that of casual workers and those on contract, we believe that guest teachers across the universities must also be extended this benefit so that their hardships too may be mitigated to some extent in these catastrophic times. These teachers too, like their permanent and temporary colleagues, are engaging with students through e-resources and mentoring them in these difficult times.
The DUTA has already written to the Vice-Chancellor in this regard. We hope that you will advise the Vice-Chancellor accordingly so that salaries can be paid immediately to all the Guest teachers engaged in Delhi University and its institutions.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely
