Subject: Regarding non-payment of salaries, pensions and dues in the 12 DU colleges 100% funded by Delhi Government

Dear Professor Tyagi,

As you may know, finally grants were sanctioned on 25.3.2020 to the 12 colleges 100% funded by the Delhi Government. The grants sanctioned, however, are woefully insufficient to meet the requirements to pay salaries and other dues to all employees. The DUTA has already written to Sh Manish Sisodia in this regard.

We bring to your attention that 4 colleges (out of 12) have failed to pay salaries and pensions to teaching and non-teaching employees. Others will not be able to pay April onwards if adequate grants are not released immediately. Many colleges have still kept summer salaries of ad-hoc teachers pending. A large number of these employees are working on ad-hoc, guest and contractual basis, an equally large number are sole bread earners.

We appeal to you to take up this serious matter on an urgent basis with the Delhi Government. The issue of grants should be resolved at the earliest. In this time of unprecedented crisis because of the pandemic, institutions will have to play a larger role of providing necessary security to all sections.

We hope that your intervention and efforts will help in achieving an early resolution of the issue.
