Subject: Appeal to adopt the GoI Office Memorandum (dt 17.02.2020) regarding the one-time option to switch from NPS to GPF

Dear Professor  Tyagi,

This is to bring to your kind notice that the Government of India has issued an Office Memorandum (dt 17.02.2020) for a one-time option to switch from NPS to the GPF-cum-Pension scheme for all its employees who joined service after 01.01.2004 but whose selection process began before the aforesaid date. This OM categorically directs all public institutions to implement the order in a time-bound manner, that is, by May 31, 2020.

It is pertinent to remind you that many teachers and non-teaching employees of the University of Delhi are affected by the provisions of this Office Memorandum. These are cases where the process of selection (including advertisement, short-listing and even written examinations) began before 01.01.2004 but the joining of the selected candidates occurred after 01.01.2004, that is, the cut-off date, owing to administrative delays. Now in the light of the OM issued by the Government of India, the University of Delhi needs to adopt the notification before the last date mentioned in the OM, that is, May 31, 2020, to avoid any hardship for the concerned employees.

The said OM is attached for your kind perusal. You are requested to expedite the adoption of the said OM at the earliest.
