Resolution of DUTA Extended Executive of 10.4.2021


The DUTA Executive salutes teachers for their active participation in all the mass programmes decided in the meeting of 31.3.2021 for intensifying the movement to Save the 12 DU Colleges that are 100% funded by Delhi Government even despite the rising cases of COVID-19 in the city.
The DUTA Executive takes note of the assurances given by the University Officials on 7 April in a meeting with the DUTA Office Bearers in which the Vice-Chancellor, Dean, Colleges and the Registrar were present. They reported on their meeting with Shri Manish Sisodia, Dy. CM and Minister of Education and reiterated the University’s opposition to the Delhi Government’s Pattern of Assistance document, the appointment of Sr. AOs in these colleges and the use of students’ societies funds to pay salaries and other dues of employees. The University Officials also apprised the DUTA of their resolve to stand with the teachers of Delhi University on all these issues and their decision to continue dialogue with the Delhi Government.
In the light of the above, the DUTA Executive resolves to give the University and the Delhi Government some more time to resolve all the above issues and to suspend the agitation for the time being in view of the pandemic situation in the capital. At the same time, the DUTA Executive reiterates its unequivocal condemnation of the repeated delays in release of grants and demands that the Delhi Government keeps its promise of the release of 28 crores and the grants for the next quarter. The DUTA Executive also reiterates its strong opposition to the Pattern of Assistance document and any attempt that threatens to disaffiliate these colleges from Delhi University, the appointment of Sr. AOs in these colleges and demands that the Government withdraw these sinister designs. It also demands that the University of Delhi pass a resolution in the Executive Council against the pattern of assistance and appointment of Sr. AOs in the 12 colleges.
In the coming fortnight, the DUTA will organize press conference/ online protest programmes. The DUTA Executive will meet to review the situation on 30th April 2021, if the situation warrants.
