DUTA cries foul over reservation policy – The Hindu

The Delhi University Teachers’ Association, which has long cried foul over the way the University is implementing the reservation policy with regard to the appointment of teachers, wrote about the issue to the Union Minister for Human Resource Development Pallam Raju on Thursday.
“The University of Delhi’s decision on modalities to implement the 200 Point Post-Based Roster for teaching positions is at variance with the clear directives issued by the UGC. In a meeting with college principals, heads of departments and the SC/ST liaison officers on September 20, the Vice-Chancellor and his team of officials instructed colleges to apply the 200 point roster to an alphabetically ordered, department-wise list of sanctioned teaching positions,” said the letter.
The DUTA has issue with the fact that the roster is applied department-wise when the rules clearly state that it should be applied to the college as a “whole unit.”
On the reason behind its protest, DUTA said: “The arbitrary method being adopted by the University will result in faulty rosters that are open to manipulation and undo the benefits of reservation.”
