Press Release
                                                                                   11th August, 2014
BHIM RAO AMBEDKAR COLLEGE
Yamuna Vihar, University of Delhi, Delhi-94
Staff Association

The Staff Association of B.R. Ambedkar College held a Protest Demo at Arts Faculty Gate, near DUTA office, University of Delhi from 1-3 pm, condemning the college Governing Body’s attempt to ratify the illegal decision of reinstating Dr. G. K. Arora as Principal of Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, taken by Chairman (Dr. A.K. Prasad) without consulting the Governing Body, and illegally approved by VC Dinesh Singh.
The Delhi High Court had dismissed the petition filed by Dr. G. K. Arora seeking his reinstatement. A large number of documents had been placed on record by teachers who intervened in the case. The Court had directed on 7th July, 2014, to the College Governing body to consider these documents and eventually decide on the matter of Arora’s suspension. But the Governing Body Chairman unilaterally decided to make Arora join back as Principal, without sharing any document with the members of the body or convening a proper meeting to consider the same. This unauthorized decision was taken in a hurry and is in contempt of the High Court’s decision on the matter. The Staff Association also condemned the University VC and administration for colluding with Arora and the Governing Body Chairman, in this illegality.
DUTA and DUCKU, who have also been agitating against Arora’s reinstatement, joined the Staff Association in the Protest Demo. The Staff Association is of the view that justice has been denied to deceased college employee Smt. Pavitra Bharadwaj whose dying declaration had named Arora as the person responsible for her suicide. The prima facie evidence also points towards Arora’s guilt. Members of the College Complaints Committee against Sexual Harassment have declared that two written applications by Smt. Bharadwaj made to the University Apex Committee for complaints against Sexual Harassment were withheld from the pool of evidence forwarded to it.  This shows the direct involvenment of the University Administration in shielding G.K. Arora.
The Staff Association will continue to agitate against the decision to discontinue Arora’s suspension and will make all efforts to unitedly carry on fighting for justice for late Smt. Pavitra Bharadwaj.
