Elections to FEDCUTA Secretariat

The FEDCUTA held its Annual Meeting of the National Executive on 1 December 2016 at the Jamia Millia Islamia Teachers Association Office, New Delhi, to elect the members of the Secretariat. The Presidents and Secretaries and representatives of Central Universities, namely, Allahabad University Teachers’ Association (AUTA), Aligarh Muslim University Teachers’ Association (AMUTA), Assam University Teachers’ Association (AUTA), Central University of Gujarat Teachers’ Association (CUGTA), Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA), Jamia Teachers’ Association (JTA), Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers’ Association (JNUTA), Indira Gandhi National Open University Teachers’ Association (IGNOUTA), Maulana Azad National Urdu University Teachers’ Association (MANUUTA), Mizoram University Teachers’ Association (MIZUTA) and North East Hill University Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA) attended the meeting.    

The following were elected to the Secretariat of the FEDCUTA on 1 December 2016 in the meeting of the National Executive for the period 1.1.2017- 31.12.2018.

President: Ms. Nandita Narain, President Delhi University Teachers Association

Vice Presidents: 
1.       Prof. Mujahid Beg, President, Aligarh Muslim University Teachers Association
2.       Dr. Shahin Ara Begum, President, Assam University Teachers Association

Secretary: Prof. Ajay Patnaik, President, Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers Association

Jt. Secretary: Dr. Mohd. Junaid Zakir, President, Maulana Azad National Urdu University Teachers Association

Treasurer: Prof. Musheer Ahmad, President, Jamia Teachers Association

The National Executive of the FEDCUTA adopted a resolution rejecting the Draft Document of the NEP on MHRD website and demanded that wider consultations be held before the adoption of any Education Policy. It also resolved to prepare a critique and hold National and Regional Conventions to evolve an alternative. 

The National Executive demanded the re-instatement of the Hony Secy of AMUTA Mr Mustafa Zaidi, withdrawal of false cases of defamation against President and Treasurer of FEDCUTA, removal of the Vice Chancellor of AMU and a CBI enquiry into the irregularity in admissions, appointments, promotions, and financial and administrative decisions taken in his tenure.

The National Executive also adopted a Resolution condemning the insensitive and callous attitude of the JNU administration in handling the disappearance of Najeeb, a student of Biotechnology in JNU, since more than a month.  

The National Executive demanded elected representation on statutory bodies such as AC, EC and Court in all Central Universities.
