Professor Yogesh Tyagi 14 November, 2017
Vice Chancellor
University of Delhi
Delhi – 110007
Dear Prof. Tyagi,
The teachers had gathered for a Dharna outside your office on 7 November 2017 and the DUTA had submitted a Memorandum to you expressing its concern regarding the slow pace of the appointment process in the University, especially the colleges, despite the High Court order. The DUTA Office Bearers had met you earlier on 12 October 2017 and raised this issue. Subsequently, the DUTA Office Bearers also met the Dean of Colleges and urged him to speed up the screening process so that the appointments could start.
Now the screening process has been completed in some departments and we hope that the screening of other departments would also be completed soon. However, the schedule of the selection committees for various subjects for appointments in colleges has not yet been announced despite reminders.
The slow pace of the appointment process and uncertainty is causing deep anxiety among a large number of ad-hoc teachers, who have been working on temporary and ad-hoc basis against these positions for long years. Permanent appointments are crucial not only for these individuals but also for the stability and excellence of colleges and departments of the University.
We wish to reiterate our demand for a time-bound manner release of the schedules for interviews and its announcement on the University website. We also want to further stress the demand that long serving temporary and ad-hoc teachers should be regularised/ absorbed. They have served the institution with best of their capabilities despite all odds and uncertainties.
We look forward to an early response on this matter.
With warm regards,
Rajib Ray President, DUTA |
Vivek Chaudhary Secretary, DUTA |
