Sub: Regarding change of date of eligibility of promotion of CAS cases in Delhi University


Dear Prof. Singh,
We wish to draw your attention to the wrong done to several teachers of Delhi University who have been denied promotion from the date of eligibility and instead promoted from the date of the interview. This is despite the fact that teachers have been found eligible in all respects according to the laid down conditions in the UGC Regulations. It is extremely unfortunate that the Vice-Chancellor as Head of the Selection Committee has acted in an arbitrary fashion.


You may be aware that CAS promotions have not taken place for one reason or the other and teachers are losing many opportunities because of the inordinate delay in holding of Selection Committees. The denial of promotions from the date of eligibility means that teachers are also facing huge financial loss and a grave set back to their career.


We seek your intervention to ensure that the University of Delhi undoes this flagrant violation of the UGC Regulations and refrains from any such arbitrary action in the future.
