DUTA Press Release: 02.06.2021

Teachers from across Delhi University today massively participated in DUTA’s online protest action program HALLA BOL demanding immediate renewal of services of the 12 ad hoc teachers of Vivekananda College. Teachers strongly supported DUTA’s demand of immediate removal of Dr. Hina Nandrajog from the office of the Acting Principal of the college. Placards of teachers in today’s online protest clearly condemned the unnecessary delay in renewing services of these teachers, especially at a time when teachers are struggling to cope in the wake of the second wave of the pandemic.
Protesting teachers were unanimous in their demand for the removal of Acting Principal of the college. Dr. Hina Nandrajog has already been in this office for more than 5 years and there has been several protests against her authoritarian behaviour and actions from both within and outside the college. The Delhi University rules, regulations and ordinances must be respected and a new person must be given an opportunity to serve the college. Under Dr. Nandrajog’s administration, the teaching roster has been manipulated – a fact corroborated by several DUTA Executive members and Academic Council members, and the National OBC Commission. Very recently, the National OBC Commission has also written to the Acting Principal raising objections at the manipulation in the teaching roster, instructing the college to correct the roster and ensure the continuation of these 12 affected teachers.

The Governing Body of Vivekananda College in its last meeting had taken the decision to renew services of the 12 ad hoc teachers. It is shocking that till date, the Acting Principal of the college, Dr. Hina Nandrajog, has refused to renew their services. The DUTA condemns such brazen overriding of the governing body resolutions by Hina Nandrajog.
It is the duty of both the DU VC and the Delhi Government to ensure that the provisions contained in the December 5th, 2019 “Record of Discussion” are not violated at any cost. In these times of the pandemic, it is of utmost importance that interests of all these affected teachers are protected.

The DUTA strongly demands the DU VC and the Delhi Government intervenes and ensures the renewal of services of these affected teachers and end their misery. The DUTA warns that it will be constrained to intensify its agitation in the coming few days in case its demands are not met.
