Physical Protest at the VC Office; Acting VC gives assurance that services of the 12 teachers will be restored

The DUTA held a Physical Protest at the VC’s Office today, 18 June 2021 to protest against the non-renewal of services of 12 adhoc teachers in Vivekananda College and mis-governance by Dr. Hina Nandrajog, the Acting Principal, and her continuation in the office beyond 5 years.

However, the protest was soon suspended as Professor P.C. Joshi, Acting Vice Chancellor came out to meet the DUTA and informed that the University has told Dr. Hina Nandrajog in no uncertain terms that services of the 12 teachers have to be renewed immediately. Professor Joshi assured that the University will use all provisions available to ensure that the livelihood of teachers are saved.
The DUTA had, in order to follow COVID Safety Protocols, given the call for protest only to the elected representatives – members, DUTA Executive and elected members of the Executive Council and Academic Council. Other teachers joined the online protest and shared their protest photos with solidarity messages.

The DUTA condemns once again the criminal actions of Dr. Hina Nandrajog, the Acting Principal of VNC in displacing these teachers who have been serving the institution for many years in the middle of the pandemic and causing untold misery to the teachers instead of extending institutional help. The DUTA hopes that she will follow the University’s instructions immediately and restore the services of these 12 teachers.

The DUTA elected members also reiterated the demand that Dr. Hina Nandrajog be removed from the Office of Acting Principal. Not only that she has continued in the Office beyond five years but  run the college like her fiefdom in a highly autocratic manner. This has caused much damage to the teaching-learning environment of the College.
