Deadlock between DUTA and VC Ends with Meeting; Assurances are Positives

The deadlock between DUTA and DU Administration finally broke on Saturday evening, 16 June with a meeting between the VC and the DUTA office bearers.

The VC finally took a view of the crisis precipitated by the UGC’s 5 March Notification on the Roster and assured the DUTA that DU will try to get all working ad-hoc faculty continued in the new session, subject to the impending Supreme Court hearing of 2 July, 2018.

On the counting of past services, the VC has agreed to allow a five-member DUTA delegation to represent its position before the University Committee that is working on the Report related to the matter.

On the issue of pension, the DUTA delegation was informed that the financial estimates for the “option” categories has been compiled and is being processed. It will be forwarded to the UGC and the MHRD soon.

The VC also made an emotional appeal to the DUTA to lift the Evaluation Boycott in the interests of the students. The DUTA has called for an Emergency DUTA Executive tomorrow morning, Monday, 18 June, to be followed by a GBM on the same afternoon, to review the current situation and decide on the future course of action.
