Evaluation Boycott  to continue in the absence of any assurance from MHRD/UGC

Resolution of the Extended Executive of DUTA, 11 June 2016:

The Extended Executive of the DUTA met on 11 June 2016 to take stock of the ongoing agitation against the New Workload Norms and to demand the complete roll-back of the PBAS/ API promotion scheme. The Executive appreciated the courage shown by thousands of teachers who have been braving the heat to turn up in large numbers for the various action programmes, including the March to MHRD on 10 June which saw the participation of more than 4000 teachers who also courted arrest. The Executive also noted the complete lack of sensitivity on the part of the Government in refusing to talk to the representatives of teachers, while planting stories in the media that their demands had been met. The DUTA Executive demands an explicit announcement in writing so that normalcy can be restored at the earliest.

In view of the above, the DUTA Executive decided on the following course of action:

  1. To continue the boycott of evaluation till Thursday, 16 June 2016 when the General Body will meet again to review the situation.
  2. Satyagraha Programme at Rajghat on Tuesday, 14 June 2016 from 10 am to 4 pm in which leaders of the FEDCUTA, AIFUCTO, students’ unions and organizations as well as political parties will be present.
  3. An Open Letter to Parents and Students explaining the issues and seeking their support for the teachers’ agitation.
  4. DUTA will write to the Vice-Chancellor explaining the reasons for the evaluation boycott and requesting him to use his good offices to impress upon the Government about the implications of the Gazette Notification.
  5. Press Conference by DUTA on Monday, 13 June 2016.
  6. Office Bearers to decide on dates for metro station programmes in different parts of the city.
  7. Distribution of leaflets at Registration and Admission Centres.
  8. Extended Executive will meet again on Wednesday, 15 June 2016 to review the situation and suggest ways of strengthening the struggle. Office bearers of Staff Associations and Secretaries of Staff Councils will be invited.

The DUTA Executive also appreciated the support for its struggle received from various political parties and organizations and resolved to endeavour to further such solidarities.
