The DUTA strongly condemns the behaviour of the DUSU President, Satender Awana, who along with his associates, manhandled a group of teachers and used most objectionable language against the DUTA President, Joint Secretary, former President and others who were accompanying a delegation of the Daulat Ram Staff Association and students of Daulat Ram College who were demonstrating in front of the VC’s Office in support of their demands.
While the DUTA representatives were standing at the Gate No 1 and requesting the Officials to allow a delegation of teachers go inside, Satender Awana, who had jumped over the Gate and gone inside, suddenly started making absurd allegations against former President Dr Aditya Narayan Misra and Joint Secretary Rajesh Jha, such as “These teachers are supporters of Kanhaiya, give pro-Pakistan slogans and support Azadi in Kashmir” etc. When the teachers protested against these allegations, Mr Satender Awana started catching them by their collar and repeating these absurd statements.
When the DUTA President, Nandita Narain, came up to find out what the altercation was about, Satender Awana used extremely objectionable language against her like “Apni umar dekh” and ” Tu Naxal hai”.
The unfortunate part was that the teachers kept appealing to the SHO Ms Arti Sharma, who was present there, to stop the lumpen behaviour of these students, but she appeared to be helpless, and some of her subordinates even started taking down names of teachers at the behest of Satender Awana.
The DUTA strongly condemns this misbehaviour and points out that Satender Awana had recently assaulted a Physical Education teacher of Sri Ram College of Commerce, which was unanimously condemned by the DUTA General Body and strong action demanded against him. However, no action was taken, as a result of which his behaviour is going from bad to worse.
The DUTA demands that exemplary action be taken by University authorities to prevent further recurrence of such acts of violence and lumpenism.
